About the Role

Our client is seeking a visionary leader to serve as the Head of Department for Science in Welkom . This leadership position involves overseeing all aspects of the science faculty, from curriculum planning and implementation to staff development and student performance. You will be responsible for fostering an environment of academic excellence, innovation, and collaboration within the science department, ensuring that students receive a high-quality education across all scientific disciplines.

The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a deep understanding of science education, and a passion for driving positive change within a dynamic school setting, balancing administrative duties with some teaching responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage, and inspire the science teaching staff, providing mentorship and professional development opportunities.
  • Oversee the development, implementation, and review of the science curriculum across all grade levels.
  • Ensure high standards of teaching and learning, monitoring student progress and academic outcomes.
  • Manage the department's budget, resources, and facilities effectively.
  • Promote interdisciplinary science initiatives and extracurricular science activities.
Requirements
  • A relevant postgraduate degree in a science discipline and a recognized teaching qualification.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in science education, with at least 3 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Demonstrated experience in curriculum development and strategic planning for academic departments.
  • Strong understanding of educational best practices and assessment methodologies in science.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
