Job SummaryReporting to the President, the Bilingual Health & Safety Specialist will ensure job sites comply with federal, state and local safety regulations, to prevent accidents, injuries and fatalities and to foster a culture of safety. This person will conduct site audits, identify hazards, deliver training, manage PPE (personal protective equipment) and investigate incidents. The key responsibilities for this role include creating safety policies, enforcing compliance, conducting risk assessments and maintaining documentation.
Inspections& Audits
Conduct regular site inspections to identify potential hazards, non-conforming work, or faulty equipment.
Compliance MonitoringEnsure compliance with OSHA (specifically 29 CFR 1926) regulations, environmental regulations and company safety policies.
Risk ManagementPerform job-site hazard analyses and develop risk mitigation plans.
Training & EducationDevelop and conduct safety training, including new hire orientations, “Toolbox Talks” and specific safety procedures.
Policy DevelopmentPartner with project management to develop site-specific health and safety plans (HASPs) and emergency response procedures.
Incident InvestigationInvestigate accidents, near-misses and injuries; prepare incident reports and recommend corrective actions.
DocumentationMaintain safety records, including incident reports, inspection logs and training records.
Safety EquipmentEnsure Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is available and used correctly.
Environmental MonitoringTest air quality, noise levels, and hazardous material exposure to ensure levels remain within safe legal limits.
Qualifications- At least 3 years of experience in the construction industry as a safety officer or consultant;
- Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, or related field, preferred;
- OSHA 30-hour Construction Certification, required;
- OSHA 500/510 Trainer Cards and credentials such as CHST, OHST, or CSP, desired;
- CSP (Certified Safety Professional) desired;
- Bilingual English – Spanish (oral and written) proficiency, required;
- Strong knowledge of construction regulations;
- Proven experience in safety training, ability to perform risk assessments and proficiency in incident reporting software;
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite of products;
- Exceptional oral and written communication and interpersonal skills;
- Astute time management, attention to detail, accuracy, organizational, planning, effective multi-tasking, problem‑solving, analytical, follow‑through skills;
- Ability to work effectively alone and within a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven, collaborative team environment;
- Ability to walk long distances, climb ladders and stand for extended periods of time in various weather conditions;
- Valid CA driver’s license, clean and insurable driving record and own vehicle required.
$95K - $115K DOE for this full-time, exempt position.
