Location: Mojave
Solar Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) Technician in the Renewables Operations and Maintenance (OM) division performs tasks involving operations and maintenance (O&M) and physical labor at commercial and industrial solar energy projects located throughout the United States. Candidates should reside within 50 miles of the Tehachapi, California area.
Your ImpactThis role focuses on ensuring the reliable operation of battery energy storage equipment at large-scale solar projects.
Core Responsibilities- Troubleshoot and perform preventive maintenance on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) equipment.
- Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) of equipment as an authorized person and under proper LOTO conditions.
- Conduct daily safety and task planning discussions, including pre-task planning, Job Hazard Assessments (JHA) and Risk Assessments (RA).
- Interact with vendors and customers in a professional manner.
- Act as a team member to support site work, which may include supervising field work onsite focusing on safety, quality, and efficiency.
- 1-4+ years of electrical proficiency relating to electrical systems and components.
- 1-4+ years of renewable energy experience is preferred.
- A commitment to safety and attention to detail with the ability to recognize potential issues and provide safe solutions.
- Post-secondary education is preferred.
- Electrical certifications such as OSHA 10, OSHA 30, and NFPA 70E are preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal skills to meet Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) internal and external requirements.
- Candidates residing in the Tehachapi, California area preferred.
- Must have a valid driver's license for at least one year.
- Work may involve rotating shifts.
- Prolonged standing and working in ergonomically challenging positions.
- Varied climates based on location.
$23.00-$28.00 hourly / DOE. In addition to wages, employees may also be eligible for performance and referral bonuses, production incentives, tool/equipment and fuel stipends, company vehicle, per diem or other applicable compensation.
