Senior Solar Farm Technician

The Senior Solar Farm Technician is responsible for the on-site safety and generation of renewable energy at all plants in their geographic region portfolio. The Technician will operate, maintain, and monitor solar assets and energy infrastructure projects in collaboration with operators, engineers, asset managers, project managers, and onsite subcontractors. Responsibilities include overseeing production, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and ensuring all activities comply with industry and RWE Americas standards, as well as applicable laws and regulations.

• Oversee production of renewable energy at all plants in a particular region, ensuring plants operate within design parameters safely and efficiently.
• Monitor production to ensure plants meet performance expectations.
• Coordinate and resolve operational abnormalities.
• Supervise and coordinate maintenance, repair of plant components including BOP; troubleshoot and resolve problems.
• Perform preventive and predictive maintenance as required by contracts and agreements.
• Provide technical support:
  • Perform operational analysis to support Asset Management and Project Development.
  • Create, review, and distribute daily, weekly, and monthly operational reports.
• Maintain technical expertise:
  • Stay up-to-date on regulations, codes, and standards.
  • Develop relationships with suppliers for mutual benefit.
• General duties:
  • Manage contractors as needed, act as local RWE liaison, develop long‑range plans, and engage with community groups.

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree in engineering or related field from an accredited US school preferred.
• NABCEP certification or electrical license preferred.
• Unrestricted driver’s license in good standing.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in a related renewable energy field.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in power plant operations.
• Minimum 6 years of experience in troubleshooting and maintenance, or supervising maintenance of medium‑, high‑, collection, transmission, and substation systems.
• Prior supervisory experience preferred.
• Preference for candidates with renewable energy, preferably solar, experience.
• Skills in power plant operations, electrical and mechanical equipment maintenance; substation maintenance.
• Competent in power plant safety protocols, electrical safety, and NEC.
• Knowledge of hand and power tools, environmental and safety policies.
• Ability to work within tight deadlines, independently, and as part of a team.
• Willingness to travel to job sites as assigned.
• Routine use of computer, tablet, and office productivity tools.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Complete required training satisfactorily and on time.
• First‑aid/CPR/AED certification.
• OSHA certification.
• Trainable and adaptive to new technologies and methods.
• Ownership of responsibilities and proactive in identifying corrective work opportunities.
• Excellent verbal communication skills.

• Ability to push, pull, and lift tools and equipment up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to work safely in extreme environments (hot sun, cold, etc.).
• Ability to walk, climb, and stand extensively during the workday.
• Position is office‑based with travel and visits to RWE Americas offices and field locations.
• Must be able to sit, walk, or stand for long durations.

The hourly base range for this position in California is $42.08–$56.93. This represents a general guideline; final compensation may vary based on scope, experience, certifications, and market conditions.
