Position
Solar Technician I at AES CE (AES Operations) located at the Bellefield Solar project in Mojave, California. Candidates must live in the general Lancaster/Mojave/Tehachapi area, California.
Responsibilities- Responsible for assigned O&M activities for solar PV, BESS sites and substations of utility‑scale Solar/BESS Energy Plants in Southern California.
- Perform corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance for equipment such as inverters (SMA, Advanced Energy, Power Electronics, EATON, TMEIC, Sun Grow, Solectria), trackers (NEXTracker, Voyager, ATI), combiner boxes, PV modules, DC and AC collection systems.
- Conduct routine maintenance work including electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, and basic inverter troubleshooting.
- Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders.
- Operate electrical and mechanical power plant systems.
- Participate in training as required.
- Assist with technical and administrative duties for operating and maintaining a power plant.
- Assist with site vegetation management (running tractors, riding mowers, and other equipment).
- Write or assist with plant orders, procedures, and operating instructions.
- Ensure work complies with environmental and safety requirements.
- May perform work independently or in crews depending on skills and experience.
- Promotes general workplace safety and follows safety standards, including LOTO.
- Experience with electrical systems and basic safety principles.
- Proficient in operating a personal computer and standard business software; SCADA and CMMS experience preferred.

- High school diploma or GED required.
- Preferred:
Technical degree or Solar certification. - Experience installing solar systems an asset.
- Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) such as measurements, control circuits, and solid‑state theory.
- Outdoor work in a solar power plant and/or office environment, with variable temperatures and humidity, and possible heights.
- Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, and accessing plant equipment.
- Use of personal protective equipment such as respirators, safety glasses, hard hat, appropriate footwear, and ear plugs.
- Potential exposure to rotating and energized equipment, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
- Occasional lifting as required for duties.
- Work may include overtime and non‑standard hours.
The expected salary at commencement of employment is between $28.50 and $34.21 per hour; base pay may vary by factors such as market location, job‑related knowledge, skills, and experience. The total compensation package includes an annual bonus.
