Solar Technician I (field)
Bellefield Solar project, Mojave, CA. Candidates must reside in Lancaster/Mojave/Tehachapi area.
Responsibilities- Perform assigned O&M activities for solar PV, BESS sites, and substations in Southern California.
- Conduct corrective, preventive, and emergency maintenance and operations for equipment such as inverters, trackers, combiner boxes, PV modules, DC and AC collection systems, etc.
- Execute routine maintenance work (electrical troubleshooting, instrumentation calibration, basic inverter troubleshooting) per work orders.
- Prepare and implement switching and clearance orders; operate electrical and mechanical plant systems.
- Participate in training and assist with technical/administrative duties related to plant operation.
- Assist with site vegetation management, including operation of tractors and mowing equipment.
- Write and assist with plant orders, procedures, operating instructions and other documents.
- Ensure compliance with environmental and safety requirements.
- Work independently or in crews as required.
- High school diploma or GED; technical degree or solar certification preferred.
- Field experience with solar system installation is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of electrical or mechanical fundamentals (single craft journeyman skills) and operational characteristics of power facility equipment.
- Experience with electrical systems and knowledge of safety principles (LOTO, electrical safety).
- Proficient in operating a personal computer, standard business software, SCADA, and CMMS.
- Strong teamwork, communication, and interpersonal skills; ability to train and lead field personnel.
- Detail‑oriented, proactive problem‑solving, and strong technical competence.
- English reading, writing, and comprehension skills.
- Knowledge of applicable safety and environmental regulations.
- Outdoor work at solar power plant; exposure to high/low temperatures, humidity, and potential heights.
- Physical requirements include standing, sitting, walking, kneeling, twisting, climbing stairs and ladders, lifting, and operating PPE.
- Work may involve proximity to rotating equipment, energized components, hazardous materials, and chemicals.
- Shift work and overtime may be required.
Hourly pay range: $28.50–$34.21, subject to market and experience. Annual bonus may be offered. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, life insurance, 401(k) eligibility, paid time off (vacation, sick leave, parental leave). Employment is at‑will.
