Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced Commissioning Manager to support utility-scale solar and battery energy storage projects. This is a field-based role responsible for coordinating commissioning activities, verifying system readiness, supporting testing and energization, and helping drive projects through turnover and commercial operation.
The ideal candidate will have a strong electrical background and hands-on experience with solar, BESS, medium-voltage systems, and commissioning execution.
Responsibilities- Lead and coordinate onsite commissioning activities
- Work with contractors, vendors, field teams, and project leadership
- Perform field walkdowns and verify systems are ready for testing and energization
- Identify installation or quality issues and help drive corrective action
- Review commissioning plans, test procedures, drawings, and specifications
- Track commissioning progress, punch list items, and open issues
- Support LOTO, switching, energization, and system turnover activities
- Review testing documentation and commissioning reports
- Support mechanical completion, energization, COD, and turnover to operations
- Promote safe work practices throughout commissioning activities
- Experience in utility-scale solar, BESS, electrical construction, or commissioning
- Hands-on experience with electrical testing, energization, and field execution
- Strong understanding of PV systems, BESS equipment, medium-voltage systems, and related electrical infrastructure
- Ability to read construction drawings, specifications, and commissioning procedures
- Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and field teams
- Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
- Electrical background strongly preferred
- Solar and BESS commissioning experience
- SCADA, controls, PPC, or interconnection experience
- Substation or medium-voltage commissioning experience
- OSHA 30 and/or NFPA 70E
- Utility-scale renewable energy project experience
