Responsibilities- Develop mechanical and electromechanical products by studying customer requirements; researching and testing manufacturing and assembly methods and materials. Specific tasks include designing mechanical parts and assemblies, including electronic enclosures, equipment racks, machined metal parts, sheet metal components, and 3D printed parts (additive manufacturing) that incorporate electrical and cabling systems. Design involvement will range from concept to product realization using 3D solid modeling software (Solid Works).
Other design aspects include material selection, tolerance analysis, thermal solution design, implementation of human interface elements such as keypads and buttons, and routing of wiring harnesses. - Utilize Solid Works Simulation and Flow Simulation to perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for shock, vibration, thermal, and other analyses.
- Write and review deliverable analysis documents such as Stress and Structural Analysis and Environment Control System (ECS) Cooling Analysis.
- Confirm system and product capabilities by designing feasibility and testing methods; provide support for mechanical‑related product validation testing, including thermal, shock, vibration, regulatory compliance on MIL Standards and product safety.
- Coordinate design efforts with internal Systems and Electrical Engineers; interface with vendors and an in‑house Machine Shop for prototyping. Generate documentation such as exploded assembly drawings and develop bills of materials (BOMs) in coordination with Production Planner and Manufacturing Engineer.

Minimum of 4 to 6 years of experience in mechanical design related to electronics products and systems, with a proven track record on product development from concept through release to production. Aerospace industry experience preferred. AutoCAD or Solid Works experience required.
- Previous experience and demonstrated knowledge of analysis and design processes for addressing thermal, shock, and vibration aspects of electronic equipment is necessary. Working knowledge of FEA for structural and thermal aspects of electronic enclosure and equipment rack designs required.
- Intermediate to advanced knowledge and experience with Solid Works and Microsoft Office required.
- Knowledge of low‑volume manufacturing techniques for custom sheet metal, machined, and 3D printed components, designing with and performing analysis on composite materials, and knowledge of Military Test Standards (MIL‑STD‑810, MIL‑STD‑461, RTCA DO‑160, etc.) preferred. Familiarity with FAA FARS or other relevant industry regulations preferred.
- Effective administrative, interpersonal, and communication skills required. Ability to work as an individual contributor and team player with the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, vendors, customers, and employees in writing and verbally.
