Job Summary:Responsible for electrical, instrumentation, and control systems maintenance and operations at the Vernon Hydrogen Generation & Refueling Plant, including electrolyzers, compressors, HyLoaders, dispensers, PLC systems, and associated utilities.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain and troubleshoot MV/ LV electrical systems, MV switch gear, MCCs, UPS, PLC and 120/24V control circuits.
- Perform instrumentation tasks: calibration, loop checks, transmitters, solenoid valves, gas detectors, and control valves.
- Support PLC I/O terminations, field wiring, marshalling, and control wiring diagnostics.
- Assist commissioning activities with OEMs (Plug, Hyfluence, Howden).
- Perform cable pulling, glanding, ferruling, terminations, continuity and megger testing.
- Maintain safe operation of hydrogen and high-pressure equipment.
- Interpret and work with P&IDs, wiring diagrams, SLDs, JB schedules.
- Support preventive maintenance and routine inspections.
- Diploma in Electrical, Instrumentation or related trade.
- 5–10 years hands‑on E&I experience in refinery/chemical/gas/power plants.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities in both electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Working knowledge of California Electrical Code, NEC, NFPA 70E safety standards, and LOTO procedures.
- Hazardous Area Classification familiarity (Class I Div 1/2, intrinsically safe wiring, explosion-proof equipment).
- Exposure to PLC-based control systems (Siemens/Allen Bradley).
- California General Electrician Certification (or ability to obtain)
- OSHA 10/30
- NFPA 70E Electrical Safety Training
- NFPA 70E /OEM Medium Voltage Worker Training
- Instrumentation certification (ISA/NICET or similar)
Experience with hydrogen systems, high-pressure compressors, HyLoaders/dispensers.
