Experience: Senior Level
Salary: $150,000 – $185,000 per year
As the Cogeneration Manager, you will be responsible for the overall operation, maintenance, compliance, reliability, and optimization of the facility's power generation systems. You'll oversee operators, technicians, contractors, and vendors while ensuring safe and efficient plant performance.
Responsibilities- Lead daily operations of gas engine generators, HRSG systems, chillers, pumps, controls, and auxiliary equipment
- Manage plant staffing, scheduling, performance reviews, and employee development
- Drive plant safety initiatives and regulatory compliance efforts
- Oversee preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance programs
- Lead root‑cause analysis and corrective actions for equipment failures and downtime events
- Coordinate major equipment overhauls and contractor activities
- Monitor plant performance, reliability metrics, and maintenance KPIs
- Develop training, onboarding, and progression programs for operators and technicians
- Maintain environmental, operational, and compliance documentation
- Partner with engineering, controls, EH&S, and facilities teams on upgrades and capital projects
- Support budgeting, procurement, contractor selection, and capital planning activities
- 5+ years of experience in cogeneration, power generation, utility operations, or industrial energy systems
- 3+ years of leadership or supervisory experience
- Strong knowledge of gas engine generators, chillers, HRSG systems, electrical distribution systems, and plant controls and automation
- Experience improving plant reliability, safety performance, and operational KPIs
- Proficiency with CMMS systems, SCADA platforms, PLC/HMI systems, plant monitoring and metering tools
- Strong communication, leadership, and problem‑solving skills
- Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Technology, or related field
- Power generation, engine, chiller, or HRSG certifications
- Experience with plant commissioning and startup activities
- Critical facility experience including data centers, hospitals, industrial utilities, and islanded power systems
