Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for an Industrial Engineer / Principal Industrial Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals on our Test and Evaluation team. This role is located onsite in Edwards AFB, CA.
** This role may be filled at the Base OR Principal level based on the qualifications listed, below
** In this role, the successful candidate will work with the Industrial Engineering Team which is an integral part of day-to-day operations and routinely works alongside many of the other organizations at the location. This is a team that comes together to learn, collaborate, and overcome challenges in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities:

* Develop and iterate on detail production build schedules by working closely with Development and Production Operations

* Provide support to the manufacturing floor by working proactively with cross-functional teams to understand frontline problems and implement cost-saving solutions.

* Utilize various Continuous Improvement tools to analyze shop floor practices and processes for opportunities to minimize waste, reduce cost, increase capacity and optimize schedule.

* Work with frontline leadership to assess current state reality and define future state possibilities

* Provide tactics and training to frontline leaders and shop floor personnel to improve the current state and facilitate value generation

* Conduct studies and generate metrics pertaining to efficiency, cycle times, work-in-progress, manpower, cost performance, and product delivery.

* Partner with manufacturing management to develop and track recovery plans that instill confidence within program management and customers

* Apply systems thinking in the development of metrics to improve product flow from the release of raw materials through product delivery.

* Provide capacity planning, rate tool analyses, and facility layouts to ensure the ongoing success of composite operations. Basic Qualifications (Base):
* Must have a Bachelor of Science degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math (STEM) discipline AND 2 years of related professional/military experience OR a Master of Science degree in a STEM discipline AND 0 years of related professional/military experience, OR a STEM Ph.D. AND 0 years of related professional/military experience

* Must have an active U.S. Government Secret (or higher) clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation)

* Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs

* Must have the ability to work on an assembly floor.
