Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Flight Test Technician 3/4 to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals supporting our Flight Operations Center of Technical Excellence for Test and Evaluation. This position will be located on site in Mojave, CA. The Flight Test Technician performs production and flight line testing and maintenance. Will support and perform flight operations including but not limited to pre and post flight inspections, refueling operations, aircraft towing and jacking.
Can perform repairs, modifications, installations, and test mechanical systems.
This position will support our 4/10 shift, primarily working first shift with occasional nights/weekend shift coverage, and ability to adjust shifts for business needs. This requisition may be filled at either Flight Test Technician 3 or 4 based on qualifications listed below.
Basic Qualification Flight Test Technician 3:- High School Diploma and 4 years aircraft maintenance experience
- Active FAA Airframe an Powerplant (A&P) license required
- Experience with aircraft systems such as electrical, wire harness building and repair
- Experience working with structures, drilling, riveting
- Must have an active US Government Secret Clearance (with a background investigation within the past 6 years or enrolled into Continuous Evaluation).
- Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance, within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.
- Ability to obtain and maintain FAA Class II Medical, and willingness to fly on board aircraft, including experimental category.
- Ability to perform moderate strenuous physical and repetitious work to include: bending, stooping, kneeling, carrying tools, lifting 50 pounds or more, working overhead or at heights, and accessing small, confined spaces
- Ability to work flexible changing shifts
- This position has travel up to 25% of the time with potential for international.
- Ability to be certified for DCMA 5 year Medical Assessment

Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with towing aircraft
- Gulfstream experience
- King Air experience
- Experience as resource to others in the resolution of problems and issues should they arise
- The ability to assist in orienting, training, assigning, and checking work of lower-level employees
- Experience with operating flight line ground equipment
- Experience with flight test operations
- Experience with FAA regulations, Prep Items, and possess the ability to read and locate technical data including aircraft manuals and drawings.
- Experience working on experimental certificated aircraft.
- FAA Inspector Authorization (A&P IA)
- Fork lift, boom-lift, scissor lift certifications.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
