Under the general supervision of the Director of Public Works, the incumbent will perform the duties related to the operation and maintenance of the Tribe’s wastewater treatment systems.
The incumbent is expected to work in accordance with the mission, purpose, and values of the Colusa Indian Community Council.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES- Education:
High school diploma or equivalent - Experience:
Equivalent of one (1) year of operational experience in water treatment facility - Licensing: CA State Water Resources Control Board - Wastewater Operator Certification (Grade I)
Valid California Driver’s License
SUPERVISORIAL DUTIES:
None
- Able to read and interpret hazard labels, OSHA warnings and product use instructions.
- Knowledge of the principles, practices, materials, and operating procedures pertinent to the operation of an activated sludge wastewater treatment facility.
- Knowledge of the health and safety hazards connected with sewage treatment facility operation and the necessary safety and health precautions.
- Knowledge of laboratory testing and waste water sampling techniques.
- Skill in the use and care of a variety of hand tools and equipment.
- Ability to operate a variety of facility pumping, treatment, and control equipment.
- Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely.
- Ability to analyze and act on a variety of data and instrument readings.
- Ability to climb ladders, sufficient mobility to perform duties in small spaces by crouching, stooping, or kneeling, and physical ability to perform tasks requiring physical strength and finger dexterity.
- Ability to accurately log instrument readings and operating information.
- Ability to perform a variety of facility maintenance and housekeeping work.
- Ability to work cooperatively with others as a member of a technical operating team.
- Maintains high confidentiality standards at all times. Is required to sign a confidentiality statement upon acceptance of employment.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Strong organization and time management skills.
- Dedicated hard worker with ability to report to work on a daily basis.
