  • Patrol, monitor, survey and inspect PG&E's hydroelectric assets
  • Check and ensure water flow and levels remain unobstructed and compliant
  • Monitor, maintain, clean, patrol, test and make minor repairs to hydroelectric equipment
  • Maintain buildings and grounds associated with hydroelectric assets
  • Clean and maintain canals, ditches, roads, dams, water gates and related water systems
  • Assist with routine tests on automatic equipment and installation or maintenance of measuring devices
  • Regulate water diversions to customers when needed
  • Drive inspection routes in all traffic and weather conditions
  • Inspect dams, reservoirs, water conveyance structures, roads, bridges, safety signs and related assets on foot or using vehicles, boats, helicopters, drones or UTVs
  • Identify, document and report damage, service interruptions, water clarity and turbidity issues
  • Communicate with supervisors, switching centers, coworkers, foremen, crew members, homeowners and the public regarding safety and operating conditions
  • Record field findings, hazards, deficiencies, proposed solutions and repair needs
  • Use computers and mobile devices to schedule work, prepare reports, assign corrective work, email and attend remote meetings
  • Plan inspection routes, conduct vehicle pre-operation safety inspections and participate in tailboard, training and procedural meetings
  • Use hand and power tools, pumps and hoses to maintain and repair water systems
  • Operate controls, buttons, dials and switches to regulate power production, temperature and water flow
  • Fuel vehicles and premix oil and fuels for tools and equipment
  • Operate heavy equipment such as snow-cats, UTVs, boats and drones based on qualifications
  • Provide on-the-job training and assistance to other crew members

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Class A California Driver's License Permit by Day 1 of hire
  • Must possess and maintain a valid DMV Medical Card by Day 1 of hire
  • Must possess a High School diploma, GED or equivalent work experience
  • Ability to work around bodies of water
  • Ability to work from a helicopter
  • Ability to work in all types of weather extremes
  • Ability to drive safely in all weather and road conditions
  • Ability to work extended hours, nights, weekends, holidays and various work schedules
  • Must be able to wear company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds or more
  • Ability to work alone in remote areas at times
  • Ability to work in remote work locations with possible exposure to poison oak, snakes, spiders, bees, mosquitoes, ticks and rodents
  • Must be able to maneuver on steep and/or uneven terrain
  • Desired: 5+ years of work experience in a water system, hydroelectric or power generation environment
  • Desired: experience with basic hand and power tools used in commercial construction
  • Desired: 1+ years of experience operating mechanized equipment associated with this work
  • Desired:
    Part 107 drone certification license
  • Desired: experience with Microsoft Outlook, Teams, Excel and Word
  • Desired: basic SAP work management experience
  • Desired: live within 25–50 miles of the service territory
  • Must complete prerequisite and secondary pre-employment testing as applicable
