Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented Controller to join our real estate development team in Chatsworth, California. This role will oversee the company's day-to-day accounting and financial operations, ensure compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations, and deliver timely, accurate reporting to support strategic business decisions. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and process improvement, with the ability to support a fast-paced, project-driven environment.

Responsibilities:

+ Oversee daily accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting, to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

+ Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, cost reports, and variance analyses related to development projects and overall company performance.

+ Develop forecasts for revenue, expenses, cash flow, and earnings to support business planning and investment decisions.

+ Ensure compliance with GAAP, corporate accounting policies, and applicable tax requirements, including the preparation of tax schedules and filings.

+ Establish, maintain, and improve accounting policies, internal controls, and procedures to support operational effectiveness and mitigate risk.

+ Lead the month-end and year-end close processes, identifying opportunities to streamline reporting timelines and improve accuracy.

+ Administer and review sales agent commission calculations, ensuring timely and accurate processing.

+ Create and maintain dashboards and financial reports in Microsoft Power BI to provide actionable insights for leadership.

+ Partner with management to evaluate financial results, monitor budgets, and support decision-making across real estate development activities.

Requirements

- Experience as a Controller in real estate development or a construction company.

- Advanced skills in Microsoft Power BI for data visualization and reporting.

- Extensive experience with month-end close processes and account analysis.

- Strong background in controllership and financial management.

- Ability to calculate and manage sales agent commissions accurately.

- Excellent analytical skills with a focus on identifying financial trends.

- Knowledge of tax compliance and corporate accounting standards.

- Exceptional organizational and problem-solving abilities.
