Century Group is partnering with a non profit client that is seeking a Controller to join their team. Exact compensation may vary based on skills, experience, and location. Expected starting base salary of $130,000 to $161,500 per year.
Job Responsibilities:
- Prepare financial statements in accordance with GAAP, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
- Coordinate with the Executive Director of Accounting & Business Services on financial close processes, including monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
- Plan and facilitate annual audits, preparing footnotes and pro forma statements while ensuring deadlines are met.
- Oversee annual tax filings and ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, including preparation of Form 990, Form 571-L, FSA EZ Audit, and AICAD Compliance.
- Maintain and review the accounting structure of the ERP system, ensuring proper reconciliation and documentation for audit purposes.
- A Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- Possess thorough knowledge of accounting practices, auditing standards, and tax reporting requirements.
- Demonstrate experience with integrated financial software packages, preferably Banner, an Ellucian ERP.
- Exhibit strong problem-solving, decision-making, and analytical skills.
- Showcase proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, for financial analysis and reporting.
- Have a minimum of 5+ years of experience in managing business office operations, preferably in higher education or a non-profit environment.
- Possess CPA certification or be actively working toward CPA certification.
- Exhibit leadership abilities to supervise, coach, and develop accounting and financial staff.
- Maintain excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills to collaborate across departments.
- Demonstrate the ability to promote and sustain effective working relationships within a diverse, multicultural environment.
