Personal Financial Counselor, PFC - Travis AFB, CA

Job Overview

This position will provide personal financial services at assigned military installations.

• Provide personal financial counseling services to service members and families, including one‑on‑one counseling, briefings, presentations, and referral resources.
• Coordinate with installation and military branch points of contact to ensure program scope and needs are met.
• Assist in establishing spending plans for extended absences.
• Develop and make available informational financial materials.
• Coordinate, publicize, and deliver Personal Financial Management classes and workshops covering military lifecycle topics.
• Respond to requests for age‑appropriate classes or seminars.
• Utilize virtual counseling or electronic communication modes (web‑based chat, video) where authorized by OSD FINRED Program office.
• Manage duty‑to‑warn situations according to DoD protocol.
• Communicate with leadership and participate in regular supervision to share trends and issues.
• Participate in in‑service training, quality improvement committees, or other contract activities as assigned.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree required; associate degree plus 4 years of experience or high school diploma plus 6 years of experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 3+ years' financial counseling experience.
• U.S. citizen, fluent in English; bilingual in English and Spanish if required by contract.
• Ability to obtain a favorably adjudicated Tier 2 investigation.
• Pass the Congressionally Mandated Disclosures for Organizational Conflicts of Interest (OCI) process.
• Must hold one of the following certifications:
  Accredited Financial Counselor (AFC), Certified Financial Planner (CFP), or Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC).

Salary Range: $58,440 – $93,500 (base salary). Short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package may be available.
