PIMCO is seeking an experienced professional to join its Fee Strategy team, supporting the firm's pricing governance, fee analysis, and strategic commercial decision-making across institutional, intermediary, and fund product channels.
This role partners closely with Account Management, Product Strategy, Legal, Client Billing, Fund Administration, Operations, and senior business stakeholders to ensure the integrity, consistency, and defensibility of fee-related analyses supporting client negotiations, regulatory requirements, and Board reporting. Key areas of responsibility include Most Favored Nation (MFN) reviews, 15c Board fee exhibit analyses, sub-advisory fee comparability analyses, and business reporting initiatives.
The successful candidate will combine analytical rigor, attention to detail, and sound commercial judgment to evaluate complex datasets, develop actionable insights, and drive consistent governance outcomes. This individual will also contribute to the evolution of PIMCO's fee strategy framework through process enhancements, reporting improvements, and the application of technology and AI-enabled solutions.
This position will be based in Newport Beach, CA.
Key Responsibilities- Pricing Governance & Fee Analysis
- Lead the annual Most Favored Nation (MFN) review process, including fee comparisons, exception analysis, documentation, and coordination with Legal on interpretation and required actions.
- Prepare and validate 15c fee analyses, Board exhibits, and supporting materials used for Board, Legal, and regulatory review.
- Produce recurring and ad hoc sub-advisory fee comparability analyses supporting registered fund and institutional business activities.
- Coordinate data inputs across multiple sources and ensure the accuracy, completeness, and consistency of fee-related reporting.
- Strategic Reporting & Business Insights
- Maintain and enhance Won/Lost/Pending reporting and related business analytics.
- Monitor fee trends, commercial outcomes, and reporting metrics to identify insights that support pricing strategy and business decision-making.
- Deliver accurate management reporting and analysis to stakeholders across the business.
- Stakeholder Management & Cross-Functional Partnership
- Partner closely with Account Management, Product Strategy, Legal, Client Billing, Fund Administration, and Operations to execute key deliverables and resolve analytical or operational issues.
- Present findings and recommendations in a concise and actionable manner to business stakeholders and senior leaders.
- Build strong working relationships across the organization to drive alignment, consistency, and effective decision-making.
- Process Improvement & Innovation
- Support the ongoing development of PIMCO's pricing and fee governance framework.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, transparency, scalability, and controls through automation, data analytics, and AI-enabled solutions.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reporting quality, analytical consistency, and stakeholder experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, or a related analytical discipline.
- CFA, MBA, or other advanced financial qualification preferred.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in asset management, investments, consulting, pricing, product strategy, fund administration, account management, or a related analytical function.
- Strong understanding of investment management products and fee structures, including mutual funds, sub-advisory mandates, institutional separate accounts, and '40 Act vehicles.
- Advanced Excel and analytical skills, including large-scale data analysis, reconciliation, validation, and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to apply sound commercial and business judgment.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to synthesize complex information for senior stakeholders.
