What You'll DoAs a Senior Compliance Officer in the Second Line of Defense, you'll review and analyze information, reports or data to determine if the applicable process is in compliance with internal policy or regulations and provide effective challenge to the business where applicable. You'll assist management with development, maintenance, and support of the Compliance Management System (CMS), particularly related to mortgage servicing related compliance oversight.
In this role you'll provide subject matter advice, oversight, and guidance on applicable bank policies, compliance interpretation, risk assessments, issue management, policy and procedure review, controls evaluation, exam management, data management, and other risk mitigation activities. You'll collaborate with all lines of defense departments to support adherence to regulatory commitments and the development of enhanced monitoring and controls to mitigate compliance risk.
- Interpret and effectively communicate compliance management information, identify the root cause(s) of potential compliance risk, provide advice on addressing risk and strengthening controls, as well as provide periodic reports to management.
- Monitor the progress of compliance issues, analyze risk mitigation strategies and tactics, and validate effectiveness of corrective action plans by the line of business.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in the design and effectiveness of compliance controls as appropriate for first line business units, issue final reports and communicate results in writing to first line management or risk committees.
- 2+ years of related experience in Regulatory Compliance, Risk Management, Internal Audit or similar field; experience with mortgage servicing compliance programs preferred.
- High school diploma required;
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred. - Regulatory experience in RESPA, TILA, FCRA, SCRA, FDCPA, FDPA, ECOA, and UDAAP is required.
- Regulatory experience in EFTA, E-SIGN, HPA, HCA, PTFA, and State Mortgage Servicing Requirement are nice to haves.
- Experience developing or performing risk-based compliance monitoring, evaluating controls, identifying potential compliance gaps, and providing effective challenge would be a strong preference.
- Experience with compliance monitoring is required
- Intermediate knowledge of general banking operations, including deposit operations, loan administration, treasury management and/or other commercial banking products and services; experience with mortgage servicing related processes including default and non-default and subservicing oversight preferred.
- Intermediate knowledge of applicable mortgage servicing-related regulatory and legal compliance obligations, rules and regulations, industry standards and practices.
- Intermediate understanding of MS Office.
- Intermediate ability to foster and build relationships to achieve a common goal.
- Intermediate speaking and writing communication skills.
Compensation:
Salary range for new hires is generally $92,450.00 - $ for Irvine, CA. Salary range for new hires is generally $92,450.00 - $ for Westlake Village, CA. Salary amount is determined by specific job location. In addition, the role may be eligible for annual bonus/incentives earned and restricted stock.
