Job Description

We seek caring, friendly and compassionate individuals to serve as caregivers for our resident population. This role offers ample opportunity to showcase your interpersonal skills, including active listening, extraordinary patience, and kind‑hearted care. Under the management of the Director of Resident Care, Caregivers support residents who may have challenges completing basic personal tasks such as dressing, bathing, eating or grooming. Caregivers help to coordinate a wide variety of activities for elderly residents in accordance with the company’s established guidelines and procedures.

As a team member of a collaborative group of healthcare professionals, this position helps to ensure a safe and comfortable home‑like environment within the retirement community setting for residents and their families.

Key

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Provide comprehensive care to residents per the Silvergate Care Plan, including assistance with these activities of daily living (ADL’s):
    Grooming, Bathing, Dressing, Eating, Toileting, Incontinent Care, Transfers, Escorting to meals and activities.
  • Serve as a loving companion to residents in their daily journey at the community.
  • Interact when necessary, as a reassuring liaison to family members.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled training and educational programs.
  • Recognize and understand the signs and symptoms of dementia and respond in accordance with training received.
  • Escort residents to medical appointments, errands and offsite activities as needed.
  • Use mechanical devices (Hoyer lift) to transfer residents as needed.
  • Under direction of LVN Supervisor and/or Assistant Director of Resident Care, record individual resident care statistics, including weight on a monthly basis.
  • Thoroughly and accurately maintain all charts, reports and daily documentation.
  • Carefully write and correctly recount Incident Reports as needed.
  • Monitor supplies and communicate reporting needs to LVN Supervisor.
  • Encourage socialization and participation in group activities, assisting with set up and cleanup of equipment and engagement tools as needed.
  • Interact with medical professionals as required.
  • Exhibit punctual and regular attendance.
  • Bring to bear a high regard for excellent customer service at all times.
  • Be compassionate, caring, patient and understanding of the needs of the elderly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • May occasionally be required to work beyond scheduled hours.
Qualifications
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must have First Aid Certification.
  • Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Proficient computer skills; must be comfortable recording resident care, referring to electronic files, and reporting incidents on the computer.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Enjoy working with senior citizens.
  • Ability to take directions from supervisor and follow through to completion with task.
  • Ability to respond effectively in an emergency or crisis situation.
  • Must have schedule flexibility and be able to work weekends and holidays.
Physical Requirements

This position requires the ability to bend, squat, stoop, kneel, push, pull, sit and stand on feet for extended periods of time, as well as the ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.

Special Requirements
  • Must pass background check (or have approved exemption).
  • Must pass drug test, pre‑employment physical and TB test.
