Location: IHS facility in Winterhaven, CA 92283
Shift: Monday–Friday | 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Pacific Time)
Compensation:
- Hourly Rate: $30.00
- Travel weekly stipends (If applicable): $1,246
- Please keep in mind that payroll is processed on a biweekly basis.
Contract: 6 months - 1 year with an option to extend

- Health and Welfare: $5.09/hr (Up to 40 hours worked per week)
- PTO: 5 days after 6 months, an additional 5 days at 1 year of service
- Accrued sick days: 1 hour for every 36 hours worked

Following the Government calendar throughout the year
Job Description:
We are seeking a reliable and patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to provide clinical and administrative support in a busy ambulatory care setting. The ideal candidate will assist healthcare providers with patient care, maintain efficient clinic operations, and ensure compliance with IHS standards and facility policies.
Requirements:
- Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant training program or other approved training pathway
- Current Medical Assistant certification from a nationally recognized certifying organization
- Minimum of 2 years of recent outpatient, ambulatory, or clinic-based experience
- Current BLS certification (American Heart Association or American Red Cross)
- Demonstrated competency in venipuncture, specimen collection, injections, and other clinical support duties, as permitted by law
- Experience using an Electronic Health Record (EHR) system
- Ability to obtain and maintain IHS security clearance, credentialing, and background requirements
- Must meet all applicable California Medical Assistant scope of practice requirements
Responsibilities:
- Prepare exam rooms, equipment, and supplies for patient visits
- Room patients, obtain vital signs, and document medical history and intake information
- Assist providers during examinations and minor procedures
- Collect and process specimens, perform venipuncture, and support point-of-care testing as authorized
- Administer medications and immunizations within scope of practice and documented competency
- Document patient information accurately in the Electronic Health Record (EHR)
- Support front-office operations, scheduling, referrals, and other clinic administrative tasks
- Maintain compliance with infection control, patient safety, HIPAA, and IHS policies
