At Valley Presbyterian Hospital, our Imaging Services team plays a vital role in providing accurate diagnostic imaging that supports exceptional patient care. We are seeking a Sonographer I to perform a variety of diagnostic ultrasound and vascular procedures for patients across all age groups. This role requires clinical expertise, independent judgment, and a commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care in both the hospital and Perinatology Ultrasound Clinic settings.
What You'll Do
- Perform diagnostic ultrasound and vascular imaging procedures for inpatient, outpatient, and emergency department patients.
- Prepare patients for examinations by explaining procedures, obtaining pertinent medical history, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
- Verify physician orders and perform ultrasound examinations according to established protocols and quality standards.
- Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment to ensure optimal image quality and equipment functionality.
- Process, label, and transmit diagnostic images to PACS for timely interpretation by radiologists.
- Monitor patient condition before, during, and after procedures, responding appropriately to changes in patient status.
- Assist physicians during ultrasound-guided procedures, including biopsies and drainage procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation, procedure logs, and required departmental records.
- Participate in departmental quality improvement initiatives and maintain compliance with infection prevention and patient safety standards.
- Participate in rotational on-call coverage as needed to support 24/7 ultrasound services.
- Assist with patient scheduling, transport, equipment maintenance, inventory management, and cross-training activities.
What You'll Bring
- Less than one (1) year of experience as a Registered Sonographer.
- Knowledge of ultrasound procedures, imaging protocols, and patient care practices.
- Understanding of accreditation standards, regulatory requirements, and HIPAA compliance.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to teamwork, service excellence, and continuous learning.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of an AMA-approved Diagnostic Medical Sonography program.
- Current ARDMS credential as RDMS or RVT.
- Current AHA BLS certification.
- Ability to obtain LA City Fire Card within 30 days of hire.
