Therapist – Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary:

Provides specialized respiratory care services to adult and geriatric patients, supporting treatment plans for respiratory diseases in a fast-paced acute care setting. Works independently and under supervision, ensuring quality patient care and accurate documentation.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and evaluate the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory therapies, making recommendations as needed.
• Administer aerosolized treatments, oxygen therapy, and draw arterial blood gases per physician orders and department policies.
• Manage care for ventilated patients, monitoring and adjusting settings as prescribed.
• Document all treatments, patient responses, and therapy details thoroughly in medical records.
• Assist in training nursing staff on equipment operation and patient surveillance techniques.
• Support department operations, including record keeping, training new staff, and participating in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential.
• Possess a valid Respiratory Care Practitioner license in California.
• Maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; ACLS and PALS certifications preferred.
• Demonstrate at least two years of recent professional respiratory therapy experience.
• Possess strong clinical assessment skills and the ability to work independently.
