Therapist – Respiratory Therapist

Job Summary:

Performs advanced respiratory care services for adult and geriatric patients, ensuring optimal respiratory function and patient safety. Operates independently and supervises staff as delegated, delivering evidence-based treatments in a clinical setting.

Responsibilities:

• Assess and document the appropriateness of prescribed respiratory therapies, including making clinical recommendations.
• Administer aerosolized medications and oxygen therapy, maintaining accurate records of treatments.
• Draw arterial blood gases and analyze results to guide patient care.
• Provide care to ventilator-dependent patients, ensuring device functionality and patient safety.
• Educate nursing staff on patient surveillance, equipment use, and pulmonary management.
• Document care, treatment, and procedural details, generating required billing and clinical records.

Qualifications:

• Hold a valid Registered Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-RRT) or Certified Respiratory Therapist (NBRC-CRT) credential.
• Possess current Basic Life Support (BLS), Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certifications.
• Demonstrate recent, minimum two-year experience in respiratory therapy.
• Be competent in performing pulmonary function tests, including spirometry, DLCO, plethysmography, and Methacholine challenge.
• Maintain current licensure and certifications required by facility policies.
