Banquet Setup Team Member

The Set-Up Team – Banquet is responsible for setting up and breaking down banquet and convention rooms according to Banquet Event Orders (BEOs). This position ensures that all furniture, equipment, and table settings are arranged accurately and efficiently to meet event specifications while maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness and professionalism.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities:

  • Sets up banquet rooms according to BEO specifications, including tables, chairs, staging, and dance floors.
  • Arranges table displays, linen, china, flatware, glassware, and equipment based on event layouts.
  • Ensures all areas are clean, organized, and presentable before guest arrival.
  • Breaks down and stores equipment and furniture after each event in a safe and orderly manner.
  • Follows safety protocols when handling heavy or fragile equipment.
  • Communicates with Captains and Banquet Managers to confirm setup details and make necessary adjustments.
  • Maintains storage rooms in a clean, organized, and accessible condition.
  • Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities but may provide guidance or support to other team members.

Qualifications:

  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow written instructions and diagrams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must possess a high regard for guest service and teamwork.
  • Prior banquet or convention setup experience strongly preferred.

Education and/or

Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Coursework or training in hospitality, event setup, or facilities services is a plus.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in event setup, banquet operations, or general labor required.
  • Experience reading and interpreting banquet event orders (BEOs), floor plans, and setup diagrams.
  • Familiarity with proper handling and setup of banquet furniture, staging, audiovisual equipment, and décor.
  • Prior experience in a hotel, resort, casino, or large event venue preferred.
  • Ability to lift, move, and position heavy equipment and furniture safely and efficiently.
  • Strong attention to detail, time management, and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to work flexible shifts, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays.

Licenses, Certificates, Registrations:

Must have successfully completed a background check and obtained a gaming license issued by the Morongo Gaming Agency, as required.

Language

Skills:

Must be able to read and interpret documents in English, such as instructions, guidelines, policies, and procedures. Must also be able to communicate clearly and effectively with team members, management, and guests.

    Skills:

    Must be able to communicate clearly and effectively with banquet supervisors, event coordinators, and team members to follow setup instructions, room diagrams, and timelines accurately.
  • Lifting And Carrying:
    Frequently lifts and carries banquet furniture, staging platforms, dance floors, tables, chairs, and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds; often requires team lifting for larger items.
  • Manual Dexterity:
    Regularly uses hands and fingers to set up and dismantle furniture, arrange table settings, handle tools, and apply linens and skirting with attention to detail.
  • Mobility:
    Continuously moves throughout banquet spaces, storage rooms, loading docks, and service corridors; requires walking, standing, bending, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and lifting for extended periods.
  • Stationary Work:
    Rarely remains seated; this position requires physical activity throughout the shift, particularly during event setup and breakdown.
  • Tool Operation:
    Frequent use of carts, dollies, ladders, power tools, and hand tools for furniture assembly, equipment placement, and room reconfiguration.
  • Visual Acuity:
    Requires both near and far vision to accurately interpret room diagrams, align furniture layouts, and ensure event spaces meet specifications and safety standards.
