Payroll Specialist

Description

We are actively looking for a Payroll Specialist for our client for a contract role. This will be working onsite with full time hours in the agricultural industry.

Duties will include:

+ Review and verify employee timesheets and process payroll on a bi-weekly schedule.

+ Manage a variety of payroll forms, including electronic timesheets, time-off requests, and position/status changes.

+ Gather and input monthly work schedules in collaboration with department managers and herdsmen, maintaining accuracy in Kronos timekeeping software.

+ Handle all payroll-related tax records, deductions, and compliance obligations across federal, state, and local jurisdictions.

+ Manage and process garnishments according to external requests and legal requirements.

+ Maintain, update, and enter data into our payroll and HRIS systems (Talent Pro).

+ Double-check payroll summaries before processing to ensure complete accuracy.

+ Apply correct taxation for employer-sponsored benefits.

+ Prepare and distribute direct deposits and paychecks as needed.

+ Keep detailed and organized records of all payroll transactions and documents.

+ Respond to questions about payroll from staff and management, solving issues efficiently.

+ Assist with internal audits, special payroll projects, and generate regular payroll reports for leadership review.

+ Proactively report any changes or issues to management and HR.

+ Always uphold company procedures and policies in all work.

Experience needed:

+ In-depth understanding of California labor laws-experience in the agriculture sector is highly preferred.

+ Strong skills in calculating overtime, shift differentials, accruals, and complex pay scenarios.

+ Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.

+ Solid knowledge of payroll tax regulations at the state and federal level.

+

Experience with Kronos/UKG is a plus.

+ Fluency in both English and Spanish is required.

Education & Experience:

+ At least 5 years of payroll experience in California; agricultural industry experience preferred.
