Human Resource Generalist
The Human Resource Generalist (HRG) will run the daily functions of the Human Resources Department including leaves, terminations, reporting, tracking, assisting directors, managers, and employees with questions, responding to emails, processing paperwork and is back up for recruiting as needed. The HRG helps enforce the Yurok Tribes policies and procedures.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesHR Generalist I
1. Collaborate with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for job descriptions.
2. Conducts or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications.
3. Schedules the drug screenings for new employees and post-accident.
4. Assists with new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
5. Participate in all HR audits, file clean up and reporting for the HR Department.
6. Manages the network drive file management system, HR teams folders with files and the online employee document system.
7. Maintains organization of employee documents and new hire paperwork.
8. Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
9. Could attend and participate in employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
10. Maintains compliance with federal, state, and Tribal employment laws and regulations, and recommends best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
11. Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
12. Perform duties related to verifications of employment.
13. Performs other related duties as assigned.
HR Generalist II
1. Performs and has knowledge of all HR Generalist I duties.
2. Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, leaves, tracking performance and talent management, recognition, and boosting morale.
3. Management of the HRIS system (MIP and Doc Star).
4. Manage the Personnel Action Notices.
5. Assists with the separation notices and tracking.
6. Conducts new hire tracking.
7. Creates conditional offers of employment.
8. Administrator for HR's online management systems.
9. Performs other related duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
1. G8:
Bachelor degree in related field with one year of job specified experience.
2. G9:
Bachelor degree in related field with two years of job specified experience.
3. G10:
Bachelor degree in related field with three years of job specified experience.
4. Employees must be willing to acquire any special certifications or attend any training that is determined to be relevant or become required of the position in the future.
5. Candidates with equivalent combinations of education, training and experience will be considered.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
2. Considerable knowledge of principles related to recruitment.
3. Ability to compose and present comprehensive reports.
4. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
5. Thorough understanding of EEO, ADA, and other related employment laws and guidelines.
6. Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
7. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
8. Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite software.
9. Demonstrated strong computer skills with use of Microsoft Office, including a strong working knowledge of automated cloud-based systems.
10. Tribal Human Resources Professional certification preferred.
11. Society of Human Resources Management certification preferred.
12. Recognition that in order to serve Yurok People one must know as much as possible about Yurok history, culture and values.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES: This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
