Payroll Specialist

Key Responsibilities
  • Process weekly and bi-weekly payroll accurately and on time using Paycom
  • Maintain and audit employee payroll records, including new hires, terminations, pay changes, and deductions
  • Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local wage and hour laws
  • Reconcile payroll reports and resolve discrepancies
  • Prepare payroll-related reports and analyses using Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas)
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, deductions, and time records
  • Partner with HR and Finance to support audits, year-end processes (W-2s, etc.), and tax filings
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee and payroll data
Preferred Responsibilities
  • Support employee relations matters and serve as a point of contact for employee questions or concerns
  • Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and vendor coordination
  • Support onboarding processes, including new hire paperwork, orientation, and system setup
  • Assist with other HR generalist duties as needed
Required Qualifications
  • 2+ years of payroll processing experience
  • Proficiency with Paycom (or similar payroll/HRIS systems)
  • Strong Excel skills (formulas, pivot tables, data reconciliation)
  • Bilingual in Spanish (spoken and written)
  • Solid understanding of payroll compliance, tax withholding, and wage/hour regulations
  • High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in additional HR functions: employee relations, benefits administration, onboarding
  • FPC or CPP certification a plus
