Northrop Grumman Aeronautics Systems has an opening for a Staff Network Communications (level
5) to join the team of qualified individuals on our Aircraft Solutions organization . This role is located onsite in Edwards AFB, CA . Duties will include but are not limited to:
* Maintains smooth operation of local area, world wide and virtual private networks (VPN).

* Plans, evaluates, and coordinates installation and/or reconfiguration of hardware and software elements of data and/or voice communication network.

* Maintains technical expertise in all areas of networks and computer hardware and software interconnection and interfacing, such as routers, multiplexers, firewalls, hubs, bridges, gateways, etc.

* May propose solutions to management to ensure all communications requirements based on future needs and current usage, configuring such solutions to optimize cost savings.

* Prepares or ensures that appropriate network documentation exists, including operational instructions.

* Provides regular monitoring and network analysis regarding short- and long-range planning for in-house systems.

* May coordinate third-party maintenance for network equipment.

* May design network or portion of network that include selection of hardware and software packages.

Basic Qualifications:

* High School diploma or equivalent with 16 years of experience OR a Bachelor's Degree and 12 years of experience relevant Network Communications/Administration OR a Master's Degree and 10 years of experience relevant Network Communications/Administration OR a PhD with 8 years of experience relevant Network Communications/Administration.

* Must have or be able to obtain Security Plus (Sec+) Certification within 6 months of hire.

* Must be able to complete initial qualification training within 365 days from program access and show continuous progress throughout the training program.

* Must be willing/able to work a flexible work schedule that may include extended shifts, holidays, and weekends and support on call status for 24 hours-a-day, 7 days- a-week, and 365 days a year.

* Must have an active U.S. Government Top Secret Clearance in order to apply.

* Must have the ability to obtain and maintain Special Access Program (SAP) clearance within a reasonable amount of time as determined by business needs.

* Virtualization

* Flight experience and familiarity with commercial mission planning software.

* Quality Assurance or performing quality reviews of technical publications or training documents.
