Import And Inventory Specialist

A global Japanese commercial truck company is seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Import And Inventory Specialist for its Parts Distribution Center. This position will manage inbound shipments, import documentation, and inventory activities to ensure products are delivered on time and in compliance with U.S. Customs regulations and company policies. This role works closely with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and internal teams to process shipments, maintain accurate records, and manage inventory in support of operational objectives.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and track inbound ocean, air, and domestic shipments to ensure timely delivery.
  • Prepare and maintain import documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, and arrival notices to support receiving operations.
  • Collaborate with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to resolve any shipping, customs clearance, and documentation issues.
  • Communicate with suppliers to obtain shipping documents and status updates to ensure timely receiving.
  • Obtain product and import-related information and investigate any inventory or shipment discrepancies.
  • Support forecasting and demand planning, create purchase orders, and expedite shipments with suppliers.
  • Partner with Warehouse, Sales, and Management teams to support operational objectives.
  • Ensure compliance with U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classifications, country-of-origin requirements, Incoterms, and company policies.

Required Skills

  • Knowledge of international logistics, import/export documentation, and customs processes.
  • Basic understanding of U.S. Customs regulations, HTS classifications, country-of-origin requirements, and Incoterms.
  • Freight forwarding experience preferred.
  • Experience with ERP systems (BPCS or similar) and legacy mainframe systems preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively with internal and external business partners.

Required Experience

  • 3+ years of import forwarding experience
  • 2 or more years of college preferred
