Contingent Buyer, Supply Chain

Buyer Position

We are seeking a Buyer to support purchasing activities for a large-scale industrial operation. This position will be responsible for sourcing materials, equipment, and services while partnering with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, and other internal stakeholders to ensure business requirements are met.

The Buyer will manage supplier relationships, negotiate commercial terms, support cost-reduction initiatives, and help ensure timely delivery of materials and services. This role is well suited for a procurement professional who enjoys problem-solving, works well in a fast-paced environment, and is interested in growing within a complex industrial supply chain organization.

• Execute purchasing activities for materials, equipment, services, and operational requirements.
• Source products and services based on specifications, quality requirements, pricing, and delivery needs.
• Obtain and evaluate supplier quotations and proposals.
• Issue and manage purchase orders in accordance with established procurement procedures.
• Monitor orders and work with suppliers to ensure timely delivery.
• Resolve purchasing issues that could impact operations or project schedules.
• Support the full Procure-to-Pay (P2P) process.

• Identify and evaluate potential suppliers based on capability, quality, pricing, delivery, and overall value.
• Develop and maintain productive supplier relationships.
• Negotiate pricing, payment terms, delivery schedules, and other commercial requirements.
• Address supplier performance issues and assist with resolution of quality, delivery, and service concerns.
• Support supplier qualification and evaluation activities.
• Maintain appropriate supplier and procurement documentation.

• Evaluate supplier pricing and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
• Conduct cost comparisons and cost-benefit analyses.
• Negotiate competitive pricing without compromising quality, safety, or delivery requirements.
• Identify opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency and reduce total procurement costs.
• Track purchasing activity and provide data to support sourcing and cost-management decisions.

• Monitor supplier markets, pricing trends, availability, and potential supply disruptions.
• Identify risks that could affect material availability, cost, or delivery.
• Support contingency planning and alternative sourcing strategies when necessary.
• Stay informed about industry and commodity trends relevant to assigned purchasing categories.
• Provide procurement insights to internal stakeholders when market conditions change.

• Partner with Operations, Maintenance, Engineering, Finance, Supply Chain, and other internal teams to understand purchasing requirements.
• Work with technical stakeholders to ensure purchased products and services meet specifications.
• Help resolve procurement constraints that could affect production, maintenance, or project schedules.
• Provide timely communication regarding order status, supplier issues, lead times, and potential risks.
• Support procurement activities for projects and operational initiatives as assigned.

• Utilize SAP/ERP systems to create, manage, and monitor purchasing transactions.
• Maintain accurate procurement and supplier information within the system.
• Use procurement data to monitor spending, supplier performance, and purchasing activity.
• Leverage technology and data analytics to improve procurement efficiency and decision-making.
• Support accurate execution of the P2P process.

• Ensure purchasing activities comply with company policies, applicable regulations, and established procurement procedures.
• Follow ethical sourcing and procurement practices.
• Maintain compliance with applicable anti-corruption and anti-bribery requirements.
• Identify and communicate supply chain risks.
• Support responsible sourcing and sustainability objectives where applicable.
• Maintain appropriate documentation for procurement activities and supplier decisions.
