The OpportunityAs an Assistant Project Manager
, you'll work directly with experienced Project Managers and Construction Managers to support projects from preconstruction through closeout
. You'll gain exposure to:
- Materials and purchasing
- RFIs and change orders
- Budget tracking
- Inspections and scheduling
- Jobsite coordination
- Client communication
- Project documentation and closeout
This role is ideal for someone who wants to learn the full lifecycle of commercial landscape construction and grow into owning projects of their own.
Your Path to Project ManagerThis is not a dead‑end support role. Hemington has a proven Project Manager development path
, and this position is the entry point into it.
As you demonstrate capability and consistency, you'll gradually take on:
- Direct responsibility for portions of projects
- Client communication and meetings
- Schedule and budget ownership
- Leadership of Construction Managers
- Project accountability and performance metrics
Your growth is intentional, mentored, and measurable.
What You'll Be Doing- Assist Project Managers with day‑to‑day project execution
- Place and track material purchase orders
- Coordinate jobsite inspections with cities and agencies
- Support RFIs, change orders, and submittals
- Visit project sites to track progress and quality
- Help manage budgets, schedules, and closeout documents
- Ensure nothing falls through the cracks
- Build trust with Project Managers and Construction Managers through reliability and followthrough
We're looking for someone who is:
- Organized and detail-oriented
- Coachable and eager to learn
- Technologically proficient
- Comfortable leading/managing others and making decisions.
- Comfortable working in both the office and field
- A strong communicator (Spanish is a plus)
- Motivated to grow into a leadership role

Experience levels vary:
- Candidates with several years of experience in commercial landscaping or a highly related construction trade will be considered at the higher end of the pay range
