Assistant General Manager / District Engineer
The successful candidate will help lead a small, high-performing organization with responsibility for day-to-day utility operations, capital projects, regulatory compliance, and staff development. Key District initiatives include a water resiliency pipeline project, drainage infrastructure projects, and parks projects. This position offers a unique opportunity to work closely with the General Manager, Board of Directors, and a talented team of utility professionals while helping shape the District's future.
What We Are Looking ForThe District seeks a customer-service-oriented Assistant General Manager who can effectively communicate with residents, contractors, consultants, regional partners, elected officials, and District staff. Strong presentation and interpersonal skills are essential. The ideal candidate is a collaborative and experienced leader who can build relationships, motivate staff, and help the organization achieve its goals. Successful candidates will be adept at balancing competing priorities, managing complex capital projects, and aligning workloads with employees' strengths, interests, and professional development objectives.
QualificationsEducation: Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in civil engineering, environmental engineering, environmental studies, business administration, public administration, or a related field.
Experience: Seven years of progressively responsible management experience, with at least two years supporting public utility infrastructure, and experience working for a municipal agency, special district or other public organization.

Must possess a Class C driver’s license and must possess or obtain a California State Water Resources Control Board certifications (e.g., D2, T2, or higher) within 12 months of employment.
Assistant General Manager $127,108 - $154,502 or Assistant General Manager/District Engineer $151,777 - $184,496 Annually

CalPERS Retirement - Classic 2% at 55 and PEPRA 2% at 62
