The PositionThe Utilities Superintendent leads the City's water and wastewater operations; ensuring reliable utility services while maintaining compliance with all applicable state and federal regulations. Reporting to the Utilities Direct, the Superintendent oversees operations, maintenance, regulatory compliance, capital planning, budgeting, emergency response and supervision of utility staff. The position also serves as the City's Chief Operator for Water Treatment. Water Distribution and Wastewater Treatment.
The Ideal Candidate :The ideal candidate will possess:
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience
- Knowledge of California drinking water and wastewater regulations
- Experience managing utility operations, maintenance, regulatory compliance and capital projects
- Budget preparation and long-range planning experience
- Excellent communications and relationship-building skills
- A commitment to continuous improvement, employee development, and exceptional public service
Education and/or Experience Associate’s degree in science preferred. Minimum of six years combined work experience in both the water and wastewater operations and maintenance field. Minimum of three years’ experience as a supervisor in the water and wastewater field.

California Public Employees Retirement System:The City provides the PERS retirement program at the following formulas: 2.5%@55 for classic members and 2.0%@62 for new members to the system after 1/1/13. The City does not participate in social security.
