Loader II

Location: Farmington

Loaders work under the direction of Yard Management and load plant material and trees on to company trucks for customer delivery or for transferring to other company nursery locations.

Essential Functions:

• Understands safe loading configurations and considers weight distribution and max weight of company truck.

• Ensures plant material is tied down, tarped, and loaded properly to travel.

• Loads strategically to consider multiple customer drops when applicable.

• Understands quality control standards and ensures plant material going out is in acceptable condition.

• Ensures the proper plants and proper quantities are loaded on the truck.

• Will hand load smaller plant material and team lift larger material that is not loaded with equipment.

• Operates Kubota Tractor to load the plant material. Ensures morning equipment inspection is performed before use and reports any equipment issue to Yard Manager immediately.

• Use basic hand tools like hammer for nailing loads, banding machine to tie sealers to clip close, hand pruners for cutting branches and cut twine.

• Use truck equipment such as truck straps to tie trees down, tarps to cover large plant material in open bed trucks.

• Determine what truck to load dependent on order size and location of deliveries.

• Ensures orders are completed when loading into the trucks.

• General care for the nursery grounds, keeping the nursery clean, organized, and safe for employees, customers, and vendors.

• General care for nursery stock (plants), ensures plants are watered, handled with care, and are placed in the appropriate location.

Additional Tasks:

• May assist in other nursery departments as needed.

• Duties are subject to change at any time per management's discretion.

Job Specifications:

Constantly works in outdoor weather conditions on uneven ground surfaces and rainy weather. Extensive standing and walking. Climbing ladders, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling required. Bending, twisting, and turning at waist required.

Lifting requirements:
Up to 50 lbs. 75% of the time. Up to 100 lbs. 25% of the time (team lift techniques when required).

Hand movement:
Gross grasping for moving plant material. Use of hands/fingers to handle/feel.
