This is an IBEW Local 1245 represented classification, which has over 100 years of experience representing employees at PG&E. This job is subject to collective bargaining.
To obtain and maintain employment, you must be able to pass a drug and alcohol screen, a security background check for unescorted access to a nuclear plant, psychological screen, and be subject to random drug and alcohol screening in fulfillment of federal requirements.
PG&E is providing the hourly rate range that the company in good faith believes it might pay for this position at the timeofthe job posting. This compensation range is specific to the locality of the job. The actual hourly rate paid to anindividualwill be based on multiple factors, including, but not limited to, specific skills, education, licenses or certifications,experience, market value, geographic location, collective bargaining agreement, and internal equity.
Although we estimate the successful candidate hiredinto this role will be placed towards the middle or entry pointof the range, the decision will be made on a case-by-casebasis related to these factors.
Under the terms of the collective bargaining agreement, the starting hourly rate range for this position is $51.24 to $59.29,subject to collectively bargained wage increases.
Responsibilities- Accesses work site to be prepped using ladders, scaffolding, aerial lifts, or other equipment; uses scraper, chisel, sanders, cleaning agents, and rags to clean and prepare surfaces for painting; tapes paper, foil, film or other materials to protect wiring, gauges, or other non-painted items from paint; patches and repairs surfaces prior to painting; operates power tools that include: chipping gun, grinder and buffer, sand blaster, high pressure water washer, stripper, and sander to clean and prepare surfaces for painting;
transfers paint from large containers into smaller containers; mixes paint and/or additives to achieve proper color and thickness - Uses brushes and rollers of various sizes and types to apply primer, paint, or sealant; operates paint sprayers of various sizes and types to apply primer, paint, or sealant; uses line stripping machine to paint parking lot lines
- Assists in the application and removal of insulation on turbines, boilers, steam lines, fuel oil tanks, etc.
- Assists in the duties of Painters A and B
- Working below ground in vaults, penstocks and in confined vessels
- Communicates with foreman, supervisor, crew members, and other internal Company departments regarding work schedules, job tasks, and emergencies
- Lifts equipment, paint, tools, supplies, bags of sand, sandblast pots, and materials in and out of vehicle at the start and end of each work day. Cleans or disposes of tools, equipment, and materials used during the job
- Responsible for placing lead contaminated material into disposable drums
- Installs PVC bracing
- Drives powered industrial equipment
- Walks the work site to conduct a pre-job site inspection at the start of each job to identify hazards and safety issues; visually observes and physically tests tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE) and records findings, walks hazardous materials storage area, looks for safety issues, and hand writes findings of inspections
