COLD HEAD MACHINIST
Location: City of Industry, CA
Shift: 1st shift, Monday-Friday, 5am-1:30pm
Pay: $27-$37HR
PRIMARY SUMMARY
Under general supervision, the Cold Head Machinist will set up and operate solid die headers that are fed by coiled wire stock, primarily used in the manufacturing of metal fasteners.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential requirement representing the knowledge, skill, and/or ability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Sets up, adjusts, and replaces specified tooling.
- Positions and secures heading wire onto the stock feeding mechanism.
- Installs and adjusts specific tooling at each station.
- Starts machine, observes operation, and inspects first run and sample work pieces to ensure machining conforms to specifications.
- Utilizes calipers, micrometers, and gauging tools to inspect parts and ensure conformance to dimensional and tolerance specifications.
- Replaces worn tooling and operates lathe and grinder to recondition or modify tooling when applicable.
- Performs machine adjustments and basic daily maintenance.
- Regulates and controls machine functions such as:
- Machine rate
- Coolant flow
- Lube oil levels
- Performs Statistical Process Control (SPC) and verifies part samples against blueprint specifications.
- Make process adjustments as required.
- Reads Manufacturing Orders (M.O.) and/or blueprint specifications to ensure conformance.
- Performs:
- Record keeping, Data entry, Housekeeping and Safety compliance activities
- Attend all daily GAP meetings as required.
- Responsible for complying with all rules and regulations set forth by Federal, State, and Local government, and HSE procedures.
- Responsible for attending all required training and adhering to all HSE procedures, policies, and plans.
- Ensures compliance with safe operating procedures and reporting requirements at all times.
- Reports any known or suspected nonconformance with company procedures or legal requirements to management immediately.
- Seeks opportunities to improve HSE performance by:
- Establishing objectives and targets
- Measuring progress
- Reporting results
- Suggests waste elimination initiatives related to the function and department, including:
- Recycling opportunities
- Reduction or elimination of paper waste
- Performs other duties and responsibilities as required.
