PURPOSE OF POSITION
You will be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment and processing all recycling materials in the entire facility. This can involve operating equipment such as trash compactor, bailors, and fork trucks. In addition, the Recycling Associate will work with others to achieve the Plant’s business objectives, with regards to productivity, safety, quality, cost, delivery, and the environment protection. This position will report to the Facilities Manager.

PURPOSE OF POSITION
You will be responsible for maintaining a clean work environment and processing all recycling materials in the entire facility. This can involve operating equipment such as trash compactor, bailors, and fork trucks. In addition, the Recycling Associate will work with others to achieve the Plant’s business objectives, with regards to productivity, safety, quality, cost, delivery, and the environment protection. This position will report to the Facilities Manager.
Major Responsibilities
- Maintain a clean work environment in the entire facility
- Collect, sort, and process all recycling materials such as cardboard, plastic, trash, wood, paper, and corner posts
- Maintain, clean all recycling stations by sweeping, picking up broken wood and loose paper debris
- Operate trash compactor to compress trash into container
- Operate bailors to compress recyclable materials into bundles or bales
- Operate forklifts to pick up recycling material in the entire facility
- Operate fork trucks to load bales, bundles, metal, or other heavy items onto trucks
- Clean, inspect and perform routine preventive maintenance on recycling equipment
- Interpret and follow operational instructions and prioritize work
- Communicate effectively with others when process recycling materials
- Collect and organize the brooms and dustpan sets for each recycling station
- Work collaboratively with others when process recycling materials
- Adapt appropriately to cultural differences in the workplace, including modes of behavior and interactions with others
- Promptly report and/or rectify any identified problems, faults or malfunctions that may occur when processing recycling materials in accordance with regulatory requirements and workplace procedures
- Apply precautions and required action to minimize, control and eliminate hazards that may exist during work activities
- Work systematically with required attention to detail without injury to self or others, or damage to goods or equipment
- Maintain tools and machinery required in recycling area
- Required personal protective equipment conforming to industry and OH&S standards
- Documentation and record requirements
- Equipment used during the process of the recycling materials and the precautions and safety procedures that should be followed in its use
- Housekeeping standards and safety procedures required in the workplace
- Site layout and obstacles
- Experience operating recycling equipment
