Ship Fitter/ Sheet Metal Worker
We are seeking an experienced and dependable Ship Fitter / Sheet Metal Worker to support work on military bases and shipyard environments. This role involves fabricating, assembling, and installing metal structures and components for shipbuilding and repair.
Job DescriptionKey Responsibilities:
As a Ship fitter, you will:
- Contribute to all structural phases of a ship's hull construction which may include fitting, fabricating, assembly and alignment of a ship's structure
- Make up plating, layout access cuts and inserts, inspect tanks and assist with testing
- Tack Weld as needed
- Perform installations and rip outs
- Review sketches and blueprints to perform layouts
- As a sheet metal worker, you will:
- Fabricate, installs and repairs thin metal products (steel, aluminum, copper) such as HVAC ducts, siding, roofs, and machinery components.
Previous experience as a ship fitter, sheet metal worker, or similar role Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools accurately Welding and fabrication experience preferred Strong attention to detail and reliability Ability to work independently and as part of a team Physically able to lift, bend, and work in demanding environments Base Access Requirements:
Must be able to obtain and maintain access to military bases Valid government-issued Must pass background check for base badging Clean record (no disqualifying offenses per base regulations) U.S. work authorization required
Preferred Qualifications:
Shipyard or marine industry experience OSHA certification (a plus) Welding certifications (a plus)
