Process Improvement Coach – Hampson, IN
As a member of the Operations team, the Process Improvement Coach will be responsible for:
- Leading process improvement activities, driving OIP/cost saving projects utilizing lean methods.
- Implementing and documenting standardized processes & streamlining standard work instructions.
- Coaching and coordinating activities of hourly employees for various departments as assigned.
- Interpreting specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers.
- Assigning duties and taking appropriate action to effectively communicate observations that may impact Lear’s ability to manufacture a quality product and achieve on‑time delivery.
- Assisting lead continuous improvement efforts and working across departments to formulate and execute process improvement projects.
Your work will include, but not be limited to:
- Directly supervising hourly employees for various departments.
- Fulfilling supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
- Conducting interviews, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Inspecting products to verify conformance to specifications and directing setup and adjustment of machines.
- Interpreting company policies to workers and enforcing safety regulations.
- Establishing or adjusting work procedures to meet production schedules.
- Recommending measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality.
- Suggesting changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the shop, department, or work crew.
- Analyzing and resolving work problems or assisting workers in solving work problems.
- Initiating or suggesting plans to motivate workers to achieve work goals.
- Maintaining attendance, time, and production records.
- Identifying and recording any problems related to the product, process, and quality system.
- Initiating, recommending, or providing solutions through designated channels.
- Controlling further processing, delivery, or installation of nonconforming product until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
- Ensuring knowledge of plant safety rules and ensuring all employees perform their duties in compliance with the rules and regulations.
- Taking every reasonable precaution for the protection of employees.
- Holding employees accountable for their health and safety responsibilities; consistently and fairly enforcing safety rules and safe work procedures.
- Providing continuous on‑the‑job instruction in safe work procedures and instructing employees in the use and care of personal protective equipment.
- Responding to safety concerns and ensuring hazards are corrected as soon as possible.
- Performing accident investigations to identify the root cause within the required time period and tracking corrective actions to completion.
- Ensuring the TPA receives all Fast‑Fax forms following an accident within 48 hours and the Health and Safety contact person is notified.
- Encouraging and actively supporting employee involvement in the health and safety program.
- Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily & demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement initiatives.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to work well in teams.
- Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school; or six months to one‑year related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
- Excellent organizational and computer skills, ability to maintain positive employment relationships and to deliver results while maintaining a prominent level of integrity.
- Previous experience supervising production workers.
