Job Description & How to Apply Below
Position: Brewer - Malibu Brewing Company
Location: Westlake Village

About The Role

Malibu Brewing Company is a family-owned craft brewery rooted in Southern California. We brew out of our production facility in Westlake Village, and are about to open a pilot brewery at our new location in Agoura Hills. With two breweries in operation, we are looking for a skilled Brewer to help us grow. In this role, you will join a four-person production team alongside our Brewmaster, Head Brewer & Lab Manager, and Cellarman.

Award-winning beer is the standard here and we are looking for someone who takes pride in the art & science of brewing, follows a disciplined process, and aims to join a team that supports one another.

What You’ll Do
  • Run full brew days independently, including milling, mashing, lautering, boiling, and knockout, hitting target gravities, volumes, and timing batch to batch.
  • Manage fermentation and cellar work: yeast pitching and harvesting, temperature control, dry hopping, transfers, and tank turnarounds.
  • Pull samples and run quality checks (gravity, pH, dissolved oxygen, sensory) and log results to keep every batch consistent and on‑spec.
  • Operate, clean, and CIP brewhouse and cellar equipment, following strict sanitation and safety protocols.
  • Support packaging, including kegging, canning, and carbonation, so finished beer leaves in peak condition.
  • Keep accurate production records and flag process or equipment issues early to the Brewmaster.
  • Collaborate on recipe development and pilot batches as we develop new beers and refine the lineup.
What You Bring
  • 2+ years of professional brewing experience in a production brewery.
  • A formal brewing education or credential (e.g., Siebel, American Brewers Guild, IBD) or an equivalent science background in chemistry, microbiology, or food science.
  • Working knowledge of brewhouse and cellar operations, plus the sanitation and quality fundamentals that keep beer clean.
  • A team‑first attitude, strong attention to detail, and reliable communication.
  • Physical capability for the job: lifting up to 55 lbs repeatedly, standing for full shifts, and working in wet, warm, or cold conditions.
  • Flexibility for early starts, occasional weekends, and the rhythm of a working production schedule.
Bonus Points
  • Hands‑on experience with cellar yeast management or lab/QA testing.
  • Mechanical aptitude for troubleshooting pumps, valves, glycol, and CIP systems.
  • Forklift certification or packaging‑line experience.
  • A genuine passion for craft beer and the curiosity to keep learning.
Why Join Us

You will brew for an organically‑grown, coastal brand with a reputation for award‑winning beer, and you will do it with a small, collaborative crew that genuinely loves the work.

Benefits
  • Competitive pay of $60,000 – $75,000 based on experience.
  • Health insurance.
  • Paid time off and paid holidays.
  • A hands‑on role with real ownership of the beer and room to grow alongside our Brewmaster.
  • A culture built on craft, pride, and teamwork, with no egos and a shared focus on the highest‑quality beer.

Ready to brew the best beer around with us? We'd love to hear from you. Apply with your resume and a short note on your brewing background. Cheers!

Malibu Brewing Company is an equal opportunity employer. We welcome applicants of all backgrounds and are committed to building an inclusive team.
