Production Scheduler

The Production Scheduler is responsible for translating production plans into executable manufacturing schedules that optimize labor, equipment, material availability, and customer delivery performance. This role serves as the operational bridge between manufacturing execution, planning, engineering, quality, and supply chain functions to ensure reliable day-to-day production performance.

Embedded within the manufacturing organization, the Site Scheduler maintains visibility of site capacity constraints, labor availability, material readiness, and production priorities, adjusting schedules as required to support safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives. The role is a key participant in the site's daily operating rhythm and provides rapid response to changing business conditions while maintaining adherence to committed production plans.

Production Scheduling & Execution
  • Develop and maintain detailed production schedules that align with demand requirements and site production plans.
  • Sequence manufacturing orders to optimize equipment utilization, labor efficiency, and throughput.
  • Continuously monitor production status and adjust schedules to address changing priorities, material constraints, equipment downtime, or workforce availability.
  • Coordinate daily production priorities with manufacturing supervisors and operations leadership.
  • Ensure production schedules are executable based on current capacity, labor, materials, and equipment availability.
Capacity & Constraint Management
  • Maintain detailed understanding of site capacity constraints, bottlenecks, and resource limitations.
  • Assess the impact of labor shortages, absenteeism, equipment issues, or supply disruptions on production commitments.
  • Recommend schedule changes and recovery plans to minimize delivery risk.
  • Escalate capacity or resource constraints that could impact service, quality, or productivity performance.
Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Partner closely with Supply Planning, Procurement, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, and Materials teams.
  • Communicate schedule changes, risks, and recovery actions to key stakeholders.
  • Support implementation of product transfers, new product introductions, engineering changes, and capacity expansion activities.
  • Participate in daily, weekly, and monthly operational review processes.
Operational Performance Management
  • Track schedule adherence and production execution performance.
  • Identify recurring scheduling issues and drive corrective actions.
  • Support inventory optimization through effective production sequencing and material utilization.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that improve throughput, reduce lead times, and increase schedule stability.
Daily Factory Support
  • Serve as the primary scheduling contact for manufacturing operations.
  • Provide rapid decision support when production priorities must change.
  • Balance competing priorities while maintaining focus on customer commitments and operational objectives.
  • Support execution of site delivery, service, quality, and productivity goals.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field; equivalent manufacturing experience may be considered.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic production environment.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems and production planning tools.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting life sciences, diagnostics, analytical instrumentation, reagents, or regulated manufacturing operations.
  • 3–7 years of manufacturing planning, scheduling, production control, operations, or supply chain experience.
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience with capacity planning, finite scheduling, or production control processes.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing and Operational Excellence principles.
