Overview
Humboldt Sawmill Company, (HSC) is seeking a Quad Saw Operator to join our sawmill team based in Scotia, CA! This is a non-exempt position, the hourly rate for this position is $33.65and includes benefits:

The Mendocino Companies (Mendocino Forest Products Company, Mendocino Redwood Company, Humboldt Redwood Company, Humboldt Sawmill Company, and All weather Wood) own nearly 450,000 acres of Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC® C031337) certificated redwood and Douglas-fir timberland, constitute the largest waterborne wood treater in the Western USA, and is the largest producer of redwood lumber in the world. Watt biomass cogeneration power plant and wood pellet plant.
The Quad Saw Operator is responsible for safely operating the quad saw to process logs and maintain an efficient and productive flow of material.
Duties and Responsibilities:

- Operate quad saw equipment in a safe and productive manner.
- Monitor saw operation and lumber flow from the quad saw to the trimmer, listening and watching for variations that may indicate equipment or production issues.
- Change saws as required and inspect quad saw equipment daily.
- Inspect equipment for broken hoses, damage, or other potential issues and perform general machine inspections each day.
- Identify equipment or operational problems and report concerns to the Team Leader, Supervisor, or Maintenance as appropriate.
- Monitor the computer system to verify the correct species and ensure information clears properly through the system.
- Operate touchscreen computer controls and monitor system messages, alarms, and machine warnings.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Communicate with other machine operators to support safe and efficient production flow.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
- Five (5) years related experience and/or minimum of six months training; or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred
- Basic Computer skills and the ability to operate a touch screen computer program
- Understanding of basic timber grading rules preferred.
- Ability to read, understand, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
- Ability to follow instructions provided in written, verbal, or diagram form and apply common sense understanding to carry out tasks
- Basic reading and writing skills, including the ability to read instructions and memos and write simple sentences

- This position requires remaining seated for extended periods while visually monitoring logs through a window and operating equipment controls using a joystick with push-button functions to adjust cutting and processing.
