A growing outpatient mental health private practice in Newport Beach, California is seeking a compassionate, motivated, and clinically experienced Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to join its team.
This opportunity is ideal for a PMHNP who wants the independence and earning potential of private practice while benefiting from an established referral network, administrative support, scheduling assistance, billing support, and a collaborative clinical environment.
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner will provide psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis, medication management, treatment planning, and ongoing outpatient psychiatric care. The provider must already be credentialed with Medi-Cal or Cal Optima.
Responsibilities- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments.
- Diagnose and treat behavioral health and psychiatric conditions.
- Develop individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
- Prescribe, manage, and monitor psychiatric medications.
- Provide ongoing follow-up care and medication-management appointments.
- Monitor treatment response, medication effectiveness, side effects, and patient progress.
- Provide patient education regarding diagnoses, medications, treatment options, and continuity of care.
- Collaborate with therapists and other clinical providers when clinically appropriate.
- Coordinate care with members of the multidisciplinary treatment team.
- Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation.
- Provide culturally responsive, trauma-informed, ethical, and patient-centered care.
- Work independently while maintaining strong communication with the clinical team.
- Support continuity of care in a professional outpatient mental health setting.
MUST ALREADY BE CREDENTIALED WITH MEDICAL OR CAL OPTIMA
- Must reside in Orange County, CA
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited psychiatric-mental health nurse practitioner program.
- Current board certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
- Active and unrestricted California Registered Nurse license.
- Active and unrestricted California Nurse Practitioner license.
- Active California furnishing number.
- Active DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
- Must already be credentialed with Medi-Cal or Cal Optima.
- Current professional liability or malpractice insurance.
- Advanced experience conducting psychiatric assessments, diagnosing mental health conditions, developing treatment plans, and providing medication management.
- Strong knowledge of evidence-based psychiatric care for mood, anxiety, psychotic, trauma-related, and other behavioral health conditions.
- Strong clinical documentation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with therapists and other clinical providers.
- Commitment to culturally responsive, trauma-informed, ethical, and non-discriminatory care.
- Previous experience providing psychiatric care in an outpatient mental health or private-practice setting.
- Experience working within an integrated behavioral health or multidisciplinary clinical environment.
- Experience treating diverse patient populations and a broad range of psychiatric conditions.
- Familiarity with Medi-Cal, Cal Optima, and behavioral health documentation requirements.

This is a 1099 independent contractor position. Compensation is based on 60% of collected revenue.
