Surgical Assistant, Healthcare Nursing, Operating Room Nurse, Cardiology
Premiere Healthcare Staffing is seeking a skilled CVOR Registered Nurse to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team, supporting Premier Health & Safety’s mission to deliver high-quality health and safety services. In this role, you will provide specialized nursing care to patients undergoing cardiovascular and thoracic surgical procedures in the cardiovascular operating room (CVOR). Working collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, perfusionists, and the broader perioperative team, you will ensure a safe, efficient, and patient-centered surgical environment.
The CVOR Registered Nurse will be responsible for pre-, intra-, and post-operative nursing care in the CVOR, including patient assessment, preparation, intraoperative monitoring, and immediate post-operative stabilization and handoff. You will circulate and may scrub for complex cardiovascular procedures such as CABG, valve repair/replacement, aortic surgery, structural heart interventions, and other cardiac and vascular procedures, strictly adhering to sterile technique, infection control standards, and hospital policies.
You will manage advanced hemodynamic monitoring lines, assist with positioning and intraoperative devices, and anticipate the needs of the surgical team to support optimal patient outcomes.
This position requires strong clinical judgment, rapid decision-making in high-acuity situations, and meticulous attention to detail. You will use electronic medical records to document assessments, interventions, medications, and responses in real time, ensuring regulatory compliance and continuity of care. In alignment with Premier Health & Safety’s culture of learning and compliance, you will actively participate in continuing education, skills training, and simulations related to CVOR nursing, patient safety, and evidence-based perioperative practices.
You will contribute to quality-improvement initiatives, safety audits, and incident reviews aimed at reducing risk and enhancing outcomes.
As part of a team committed to excellence and safety, you will mentor newer nurses and support staff, model best practices in communication and teamwork, and participate in preoperative briefings, time-outs, and postoperative debriefings. You will adhere to all organizational, state, and federal guidelines for patient safety, infection prevention, medication administration, and documentation, while helping to maintain a culture of accountability and respect.
Candidates can expect a dynamic environment with exposure to advanced cardiovascular procedures, ongoing opportunities for career advancement, and structured skill enhancement through in-service training and certifications. The ideal candidate is a licensed Registered Nurse with prior operating room experience—preferably in cardiovascular surgery—current BLS and ACLS, and CNOR or specialty cardiac certifications preferred. This is a full-time clinical role in a field/on-site hospital setting that demands flexibility for on-call, weekend, and holiday rotations as needed to support emergent and scheduled CVOR cases.
