The Skilled Nursing Facility Nursing Manager is a Registered Nurse responsible for coordinating and overseeing the daily clinical operations of the Skilled Nursing Facility, which primarily serves long-term care residents. Working under the direction of the Director of Nursing, the Nursing Manager provides visible, hands-on leadership to ensure safe, resident-centered care, effective nursing operations, regulatory compliance, and appropriate clinical staffing. The Nursing Manager serves as the day-shift clinical leader for nursing staff and plays a central role in new admissions, clinical assessments, physician order implementation, staff scheduling, nurse orientation, competency development, documentation oversight, quality improvement, and survey readiness.

The position works collaboratively with nursing leadership, providers, interdisciplinary team members, residents, families, staffing agencies, and other departments to promote continuity of care and strong clinical outcomes.

Compensation
  • Base Rate $61.93-$88.30 per hour (or $-$ annually)
  • Starting pay is determined using our clinical pay scales, which feature 13 steps recognizing up to 30 years of relevant experience.
  • Eligible employees may also receive shift differential and holiday pay

Education
  • Current, active, and unencumbered Registered Nurse license issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.
  • Associate degree in nursing from an accredited nursing program.
  • Current BLS/CPR
Experience
  • Minimum of five (5) years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of leadership, supervisory, or nursing unit management experience in a skilled nursing facility or post-acute care setting.
  • Prior California skilled nursing facility experience.
  • Demonstrated experience training, orienting, precepting, and evaluating newly hired nurses.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and managing nursing staff schedules.
  • Experience caring for long-term care and geriatric residents.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Knowledge of the clinical needs of long-term care residents.
  • Working knowledge of California skilled nursing facility regulations, including Title 22 requirements and California Department of Public Health survey processes.
  • Knowledge of federal skilled nursing facility requirements, Medicare and Medi-Cal reimbursement principles, resident rights, and standards for clinical documentation.
  • Ability to perform comprehensive nursing assessments and identify significant changes in resident conditions.
  • Ability to interpret clinical data, quality metrics, audit findings, and staffing information.
  • Provide day-to-day supervision of SNF nursing staff, including preparation of monthly staffing schedules, review of timecards, management of call-offs, and coordination of replacement coverage.
  • Participate in the Administrator-on-Call rotation, providing clinical and administrative guidance outside regular business hours as assigned.
  • Serve as team lead for the clinical coordination of new admissions, including completion or oversight of assessments, provider orders, and initial care plans.
  • Serve as the liaison to NPH and coordinate agency staff onboarding requirements, including credential review, IT access and badges, and respirator fit testing.
  • Maintain working knowledge of MDS requirements, monitor supporting nursing documentation, and provide staff education and oversight to improve documentation accuracy, completeness, and compliance.
