Responsibilities
  • Provide direct nursing care for postoperative patients in an inpatient perioperative setting.
  • Monitor patient status, including vital signs, pain levels, and wound/incision sites; respond to changes per protocol.
  • Administer prescribed medications and therapies; coordinate analgesia, antibiotics, and other orders with the care team.
  • Document assessments, treatments, and patient education in the electronic medical record; communicate updates to the team and families as appropriate.
  • Collaborate with surgeons, physicians, and ancillary staff to implement postoperative care plans; support safe transfers and discharge planning.
  • Maintain aseptic technique, infection control practices, and safe wound care and dressing changes.
Requirements
  • Active RN license (in good standing) for practice.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Postoperative or perioperative nursing experience preferred.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced inpatient perioperative/postoperative environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills; proficient in documentation and handoffs.
  • Willingness to travel and commit to an 8-week travel assignment; ability to work a rotating shift.
