Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical

Job Summary:

Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients on the medical-surgical unit, ensuring safety, comfort, and recovery. Orients to age-specific physiological, emotional, and psychosocial needs of adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients, delivering skilled interventions within a collaborative healthcare team.

Responsibilities:

• Administer medication and monitor patient responses to ensure safety and efficacy.
• Perform intravenous therapy, including blood products, and operate medical equipment such as IV pumps, glucose meters, and PCA devices.
• Assess vital signs, manage wounds, and provide post-operative care with attention to physiological changes and psychosocial needs.
• Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans, and self-care post-discharge using tailored teaching methods.
• Delegate appropriate patient care tasks to ancillary personnel, supervising based on scope of practice and competency.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to develop and implement individualized care plans.

Qualifications:

• Hold a current RN license in the state of practice.
• Possess at least two years of recent medical-surgical nursing experience.
• Maintain valid Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from an approved provider.
• Demonstrate proficiency in medication administration, IV therapy, sterile technique, and patient assessment.
• Have an associate degree in nursing (A.S.) required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
