7:00AM - 3:00PM x 5 Term: 13-week assignment with the potential for extension Pay Rate: $52 - $56/hr

Astrya Global, a San Diego based medical staffing agency, is hiring a LVN/LPN for a temporary assignment in Alturas, California. These positions are 13-week contracts with the ability to extend.

Responsibilities for a LVN/LPN:

• Wear Caribbean Blue scrubs as required by nursing staff dress code
• Report to the Director of Nursing (DON) and work in conjunction with physicians, nursing staff, residents, families, and other departments to provide individualized nursing care
• Maintain current CA LVN licensure and current BLS/CPR certification
• Conduct individualized patient assessments, prioritizing data collection based on the patient's immediate condition or needs, and notify Charge Nurse and MD of abnormal findings
• Develop individualized plans of care reflecting collaboration with other members of the healthcare team
• Perform appropriate treatments as ordered by the physician in an accurate and timely manner
• Perform assigned clinical tasks accurately, including EKGs, blood draws, and IV starts
• Keep work area and assigned rooms clean and free of clutter; provide fresh drinking water for patients every 4 hours or as needed
• Restock storage area, IV room, and wound cart for the acute floor
• Provide individualized patient and family education
• Follow facility policy and procedure when administering medications; ensure medications are correct, not outdated, in adequate supply, and administered as ordered
• Document patient assessment findings, physical and psychosocial responses to nursing interventions, and progress toward problem resolution in a timely and accurate manner
• Initiate emergency resuscitation measures according to appropriate protocols; respond to emergency situations appropriately and carry out emergency orders quickly and efficiently
• Maintain patient, family, and staff confidentiality at all times
• Provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the patient's and family's diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity, and rights
• Report patient condition to appropriate personnel during each shift
• Adhere to standards of safety and infection control in the delivery of patient care
• Assist nursing staff in other departments when needed and if qualified
• Perform nursing procedures according to facility policy and procedure, using all equipment safely and effectively
• Coordinate smooth transfer of patients for procedures or diagnostic tests, AM blood draws, and specimen collection as ordered by the physician
• Assist in the orientation of new personnel and in staff education as needed
• Follow procedures for medication administration and narcotics control
• Attend annual CPR classes and other in-service education classes related to the job position; keep skills up to date
• Participate in monthly staff meetings
• Work under the direction of the charge RN to provide nursing care to acute patients
• Adhere to end-of-shift walking rounds at 0630 and 1830 to maintain continuity of care
• Make observation, acute, and swing bed charts as needed
• Utilize safety-conscious measures to prevent infections and accidents; report hazards to proper personnel
• Assist with direct patient care as needed; ensure call lights are answered promptly and that nursing care assigned to CNAs is completed and documented per facility policy and procedures
• Demonstrate professional behavior at all times, including positive working relationships with patients, visitors, and staff
• Demonstrate strong organizational ability and time management skills
• Communicate appropriately, respectfully, and clearly with directors, managers, and coworkers
• Complete annual education requirements and maintain all regulatory requirements
• Wear identification while on duty
• Report to work on time and as scheduled; complete work within designated time
• Attend all meetings as appropriate
• Be willing to work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary
• Perform other duties as assigned by nursing management
