About the Clinician's WorkdayThe trauma surgery nurse practitioner will provide night shift coverage across inpatient and ER settings at a Level II Trauma Center in California, with no call responsibilities required. Responsibilities include monitoring, managing, and discharging patients on the trauma service; taking patient histories; performing physical examinations; and making assessments and diagnoses. The clinician will initiate, review, and revise treatment and therapy plans;
order diagnostic studies, therapeutic diets, and ancillary services; and recognize situations requiring immediate physician attention, instituting necessary life-sustaining treatment procedures. Additional duties include instructing and counseling patients on matters pertaining to their physical and mental health, completing pertinent medical record documentation, and facilitating appropriate referrals to health facilities and community resources.
